Random Act of Kindness at Mae Simmons Park Leaves Lasting Impact on Local Family

LUBBOCK, TX — In a world often focused on the negative, one young girl’s quiet act of kindness brought a moment of pure joy to a few unsuspecting families this week at the Mae Simmons splash pad.

While enjoying a sunny day at the park, a group of young boys were excited to see the ice cream truck pull up. Unfortunately, their parent didn’t have any money on hand. “My youngest was especially upset and threw a little fit,” the parent shared. “But eventually, he went back to playing.”

That’s when a teenage girl, a complete stranger, approached the family and asked how many kids were with them. Moments later, she returned — hands full of cold treats — and gave each child an ice cream, completely unprompted. She didn’t stop there either, reportedly buying ice cream for several other children at the splash pad that day.

“To that sweet girl, your heart and soul are beautiful and pure,” the parent wrote in a message to The806er. “I hope you never lose your light. The world needs more people like you.”

In a simple moment filled with popsicles and summer sun, a stranger reminded everyone present that kindness is still very real — and very powerful.
